If you happen to use a chrome based browser, this extension is a MUST, I was using video speed control, but as I almost always use Youtube for my content and facebook is weird as 1.5 speed default. I tried this new extension.

It allows you to hide shorts - for that alone is valuable, BUT it also allows you to show 5 video's per row on your search and subscription lists, meaning I can zip through any new videos that have been posted and not have to endlessly scroll (which is what they want you to do). The power and control of this is awesome.

As for ads I am not sure what is blocking ads for me, but something is, I only get one or two a day now that my premium subscription has stopped on June 30.

The only thing I did not like about this addon is that it allows for the default YouTube playback speed under the standard gear Settings for Youtube (Normal, etc.) and then adds its own "Speed" option from the toolbar. This confused my wife and myself horribly, and was the main reason I deleted the extension. Installing it tonight, looks like this has been fixed and overridden. I may give this extension another shot.

Ads on YT are nowadays blocked by many browser's inbuilt ad blocking but you may have to switch it on in browser settings. I still use ublock origin even when chrome browsers no longer allow it to be installed, just need to go to chrome://flags and search for manifest or V2 and disable some three flags.

I think uBlock origin blocks ads in YT but I also install some YT specific adblocking extension and I don't see any ads, except sometimes when the browser is slow and didn't the extension didn't start blocking, I notice an ad for a second or two but refreshing page fixes it.

What's a short? Short videos? I don't like 5-10-15 mins videos and for that mater never liked short stories when it came to books when I still read a lot. It is like you get a munchie and no more leaving you wanting more but it just ends :what:

I also found one browser feature I never yet tried, it is Reader View webpage mode. Even on some heavy ad sites that even blockers can't deal with it, the reader view removes it all and shows just the article, glad I discovered it.

For example, you can use pick function to remove ads that it didn't block but these days, some sites integrate 'panels' in which ads are nested into the whole webpage content, which makes ads impossible to remove by standard blocking.
NoScript is another heavy handed script blocking extension which is good to have on standby for some situations.
